Beeswax is made by a living body, it’s naturally secreted, not forcefully extracted - it’s a very simple and delicate biological record (not sure of what - bees birth, death, life in general?). I do think that material carries memory, so when it melts and resolidifies, we can see some of these records in the shapes it makes.

The ancient practice of carromancy reads futures in molten wax. If you can read future from pouring wax into water, can you read the past from pouring water in the wax?

I don’t believe time is anything but a human construct, but I do know that material can tell its own story - past or future - that’s for us, humans to decide.
